Leadership is not about power. It is about service.

Leadership Begins with People

Strong organizations are built by the people who serve within them. When employees are valued, well-trained, supported, and given the tools they need to succeed, they are better equipped to serve the public.

I believe leadership means setting clear expectations, providing strong supervision, listening to employees, and creating an environment where people can do their best work. It also means taking responsibility when things go wrong and giving credit to the team when things go right.

Leadership is not about “me.” It’s about “we.”

My Leadership Philosophy

My approach to leadership is grounded in a simple principle:

Before Honour is Humility.

Leadership requires humility, accountability, and a willingness to serve others. A leader should set the example, listen before making decisions, recognize the contributions of others, and place the mission above personal interests.

Trust Through Transparency

Public trust must be earned and maintained.

Citizens should expect honest communication, professional conduct, accountability, respect for constitutional rights, and fair and consistent application of the law. They should also have a Sheriff who is visible, accessible, and willing to answer questions.

Working Together

Throughout my career, I have worked with local, state, and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and public servants from many different backgrounds.

No single agency or individual can solve every challenge. Effective public safety depends on communication, cooperation, and strong partnerships. As Sheriff, I will work to strengthen those relationships and look for new opportunities to involve citizens and volunteers in supporting their community.

Responsible Stewardship

The Sheriff’s Office has a responsibility to use taxpayer resources wisely.

My experience with budgets, grants, personnel, and multi-agency operations has taught me the importance of balancing public safety needs with fiscal responsibility. That means looking for practical solutions, making thoughtful use of available resources, and ensuring taxpayer dollars support effective public service.

Leading by Example

The Sheriff sets the standard for the organization. I will hold myself to the same standards I expect of the people I lead and take responsibility for the decisions made under my leadership.

The Office of Sheriff is a position of public service. My commitment is to lead with humility, uphold the Constitution, support the people who serve within the Sheriff’s Office, and remain accountable to the citizens of Lewis County.

Leadership is not about power. It is about service.
