Community Involvement
I have always stood by the principle that community service is a vital part of professional law enforcement. As a member of the Centralia Police Officer’s Association, I have participated in numerous fundraising efforts supporting local programs such as Shop with a Cop/Night Out with Santa, student scholarships, and the Special Olympics.
During my time as a K9 handler with Bak, I was deeply involved in community events, civic groups, local schools, and service organizations—never turning down an opportunity to engage with the public and build positive relationships. I was honored to be selected along with my K9 partner Bak as the 2008 Fourth of July Grand Marshall for the Centralia Summerfest Parade.
While my current position offers fewer direct public interactions, I continue to share my experience by providing JNET presentations and training to local schools and groups interested in learning about our mission.
Service has always been an important part of life, beginning with volunteer service as a cadet and reserve officer and continuing today through teen mentoring and involvement in the Faith Baptist Church youth program and church security. Commitment to serving others is a value we share as a family. I’m grateful to support my wife and daughters as they volunteer with several community service groups, often volunteering alongside them when needed.
A law enforcement officer can have a profound impact on their community. The presence of an officer can inspire children and shape their view of what service and integrity look like. Throughout my 30-plus years in law enforcement, I have committed myself to setting an example of professionalism and respect—one that encourages younger generations to pursue a life of service. I know that my greatest contribution to this community has been leading by example and inspiring others to follow a path of honor, duty, and commitment to something greater than themselves.
